VCSEL is an acronym for “Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser”, a typical High-Tech product. It is not visible because it is too small. It is not tangible in applications, because it is always built inside modules and boxes and, furthermore the emitted laser light is not in the visible wavelength regime.

However, VCSELs are very essential in our daily life. Without VCSELs, data would not be transported as fast as required. Material could not be analyzed as easy as we can now. Industrial sensors would not work with optical accuracy. A lot of consumer applications would suffer from missing low-cost high-quality light sources.
